Gemini
Lonely spaces
we share in
distant places
Set apart
behind our own walls
Through the tiniest
crack I can see you
carried by the grand
hands of Chronos
An infant swaddled
in your mother’s arms
The boisterous boy
with the glorious grin
and angelic azure eyes
musing on mischief
The youthful man
like Apollo descended
from Olympus
with hair like waves
upon Poseidon’s ocean
the color of
sun kissed wheat
catching Helios’ light
and glistening
I see you today
as time’s tricks
trace the faintest of lines
leaving you winsome and wise
after Eros frolicked
playing foolish games
upon your heart
with his errant arrows
What I do not see
is you beside me
for the fates have ruled
we remain separate
you and I
our souls strangers
Even mighty Zeus must
bow to their decree
Perhaps that great god
will someday have mercy
and set us together
in the sky
