Golden Haired Child
Oh golden haired child who ran the field
where daisies bloomed beneath the open sky
beside the lakes the clouded reflections yield
the times of yesterday which did pass us by
Somewhere lost to us among the meadows song
there our freedom from the cities roam
where the lady bugs and dragon flies fly on
lost to us this place where the heart is home
Seeds of dandelion do ballet upon the breeze
where the deer and fawn search a lily meal
in that summer that ran into the autumn leaves
and to that place would now I gladly steal
And lay to memory a time what pleasant spent
before a cavern dark crept upon the sun
and the rays of light into the darkness went
and wandered we to the place undesired come
Where with heavy heart walked a road of pitch
laid the light to rest within the finer times
where happiness was rolled into a muddy ditch
a waltz of drudgery enslaved our lives outlines
Had never I known joy until your face I saw
untouched and untainted no untrust you knew
perfect in your innocence not yet having flaw
before you would learn the evil that men do
But the chains of man are difficult to break
since we were children told we had no choice
the internal struggles mind and heart we make
then remember we its truth we need to voice
Through the walls of brick forth its waters burst
broke down the dam that mankind has erected
quenched the parched land where everywhere is thirst
to accept this offer which formerly I rejected
Now my heart has settled into this open room
like a slow dance where I hold you fast
where love comes softly like a bride and groom
in inner chamber is sealed the loves that last
And cleave it did to soften hardened heart
to consider our lives upon the silver strand
and its benevolence of instruction did impart
a force eternal just like a guiding hand
