Great Is Your Faithfulness
When I was growing up,
I felt I wasn't really wanted.
The kids I went to school with,
Always chided me and taunted.
I didn't know You much back then,
Mostly I just feared You;
But You knew me although to me,
You never did appear to.
We were poor when Mom left Dad,
I didn't understand;
But I had what I needed,
Extended by Your hand.
My mother never taught me much,
She wasn't very bright.
She never did take me to church,
So You brought me Your Light,
Through neighbors who came over,
Inviting us to come,
And Mom said I could go with them,
She didn't want to come.
Many times I've stumbled.
You always pick me up.
Even when I didn't know,
Twas You who filled my cup.
You've always been there for me,
Though I deserved it not.
You're patient and You're faithful,
Though I fail You a lot.
I don't know how to tell You,
How much You mean to me.
No words come near describing,
Your faithfulness to me;
So I'll just say I love You,
I hope You know how much;
For though I'm weak Your love is strong,
You see we don't lose touch.
Twas You who came to find me,
As I stumbled in the dark,
And Your Spirit gives me courage,
On my soul You've placed Your mark.
Let me always dwell beside You.
Let me in Your shadow rest.
Let Your wings provide my shelter.
Let me be Your humble guest.
