Green Eyes
The blind have led the blind
too long, a glint of kerosene
sparked a forest fire, razing
wheat fields to the ground.
Corn that burst the soil
hit a drought that parched the fruit,
turned it ashen, into charcoal,
turned it dead without a sound.
I stared upon the wasteland
growing slowly to fertility,
as waters seep a tributary
and cleanse the blasted earth.
In the heart a verdant patch
evolves an emerald gathering,
irrigated by a love
of inestimable worth.
The green eyes of a princess
shining flecked with effervescent gold,
stirs animation in the blood
and slakes the starving burn.
Her green eyes speak of tenderness,
of future worlds idealised,
essentially I realise
they make my whole world turn.
