Had I Never Loved You
HAD I NEVER LOVED YOU
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS
Had I never loved you, I would have never known
The treasure of a good woman, that was mine alone
Who brought me warmth, lifted me beyond my dreams
Gave me strength and support for all my schemes
We had our differences from time to time
But the make up period was beyond sublime
Little spats occurred when we didn’t like each other
Quickly erased, cause we were each others lover
There are few words to describe what you were to me
My refuge, a safe harbor in life’s turbulent seas
You helped me cope when things did not go well
You gave me confidence, boosted my will to excel
The most treasured gifts that you bestowed upon me
The beautiful children, the legacy of you and me
You were the center of our lives, our cornerstone
Had I never loved you, I would never have known
A day of darkness, an umbra silently crept into view
The shadow strode past me, it had come, my love, for you
It stole you, leaving us adrift, in fear of tomorrow
The guiding principles you gave us were not hollow
We will survive and thrive, an oath we owe to you
You are the reason our dreams have become true
I treasure the memories that we together have sown
Had I never loved you, I would never have known
You are the heart beat that governs my life
You are my angel god bless you, my wife.
