Heaven, the Wonder of Life
And there shall come a day when an angel trades a place with me,
and oh, all the pulchritude and marvel in Heaven I shall see.
Sometimes at night I close my eyes and wonder what kind of scene
I will see after my final breath; I just know it will be serene.
I sit and ask myself what kind of angel do I wish to be,
I know I can choose because the Lord wants angels to fly free.
I see not tears but hear the laughter of children and the Lord,
harmony shall greet me at the golden gates with accord.
I shall enter the threshold praising with highest esteem,
for I have been loved by the One and Only True Supreme.
I shall meet with those who on earth I loved and adored,
and there shall be so much tranquility and complete concord.
All the Saints will say hello and hug me with love and respect,
and I will meet the famous ones who I would never expect.
Over to the right is the Rainbow Bridge where my pets roam,
for I know too in heaven they have a happy and healthy home.
My sister Karen will be the first in which I will connect,
and all her kisses and smiles I shall inhale and collect.
I shan’t wear wings nor a halo, but an ivory gown of lace,
and never will anyone see a saddened frown upon my face.
I look like I am thirty again, for that is when I was in my prime,
and all will be filled with joy and peace with hope and sublime.
I shall be encompassed in truth and faith with the Lord’s grace,
for heaven is the wonder of life that I shall always embrace.
