Her Daddy's Eyes
HER DADDYS’ EYES
Her daddy’s eyes were a soft light brown
They danced with the light
And shone like the moon
She liked to look deep inside them eyes
B’coz sure enough daddies’ eyes never did lie
The clouds were dark in their house that year
And her heart thundered with fear,
As her family strife tried to tear-
Apart into a thousand pieces.
Her daddy’s eyes were closed in prayer,
And when he opened them…there was no fear,
And when he looked at her: there was warmth,
The tears in her own eyes dried up,
As he looked at her with love,
And she knew everything would be okay
B’coz sure enough daddies’ eyes never did lie.
They spoke a language she and he,
Though his tongue was forever sealed,
His eyes spoke volumes to his dear girl
When she achieved and succeeded they sang praise
When she messed up they grew with anger,
They taught her about life’s issues and
Whenever she was sad they brought her comfort
And she knew to trust him
B’coz her daddy’s eyes never did lie.
