Her Song
My butterflies began to smile again.
They felt the breadth of her octaves
Caress my scarring tissue
Please forgive me.
Please
Forgive me
I lost myself.
It was the first time in many weeks
That my heart smiled
With such enamored caution
I ached to slow dance with her apologies,
As she sang to me
With her hazel renditions
Unspoken
Our teardrops buckled
Under the weight
Of silenced reflection
I thought I could make it through tomorrow
By removing you from my yesterdays
But, today, I now see I was wrong
She quietly cried upon my tattered arms
Pressing her moistened sadness
Against my elastic grin
“Tomorrow can be for us again.”
It was then
The stars outside my bedroom window
Faded towards reality’s sunrise
Was this dream
All that it seemed
