He stands at the cemetery gates
That loom high and imposingly bleak
He holds the bouquet of beautiful snowdrops
He is immobile and unable to speak
Her loss still slams into him
Each and every day
His Grief remains overwhelming
A Darkness that refuses to abate
His best friend takes those flowers
To her grave so quiet and alone
In a sea of many other graves
Hers is there to hold hostage his Hope
When a husband loses his wife
His Anchor can become voided
And like a boat tossed about on the Ocean
His Emotions can make him feel destroyed
Those beautiful memories that they created
That wonderful Love Story they'd written
It can become a constant reminder
Of every single thing that he's missing
And those cemetery gates
Black pillars against the blue sky
The Dark against the Light of Day
Making a Mockery of all he tries
Will he ever be Free to Breathe without pain?
Will he ever be Free to Live again?
Or will he forever remain seemingly trapped in Amber?
Love locked away with his Anger?
Or maybe he'll heal over Time
In the Lifetimes that follow this one
His Grief remains his constant companion
Death his frenemy without Sun
