I Am a Rose
A rose, a rose I seek to find,
Thorns surround me, but I don’t mind.
For in these thorns my life rose hides,
A bloom of beauty still abides.
Deeply rooted in solid ground,
I know my flower will soon be found.
Nourished by day from heaven’s light,
I have no fear of the dark night.
Alone in a world full of flowers,
The thorns I bare give me power.
A protection from natural strife,
Strong stems adorned with sharp spikes:
I seek a rose for these reasons,
A rose the flower for all seasons,
Varied in colors, pedals gleaming,
Velvet texture, soft in feeling:
A fragrance both subtle and sweet,
Lasting memories I shall keep.
Most powerful sense of them all,
From slightest whiff I will recall:
My rose, my rose for all my life,
A bloom of beauty is my wife.
No flower in the world compares,
For she a rose, flower most rare.
