I Am Apollo
I am skilled, and without any weakness
With a bow and arrow, I have great prowess
One shot of mine, and even massive men
Become nothing more than obstacles fallen.
I am without anxiety, apprehension or fear
The future hides nothing from this mighty seer
Reckless, they call me, but here I assure,
I quake for nothing, not fear, and not failure.
Protector of so many, and patron of more
My heavens are heights to which no mortal can soar
Diety and embodiment of intelligence and might
Of civilisation and youth and music and light.
I am without love, cursed in my desire,
Scorched are all they who capture my fire
Every royal, each hero, is a breathing reminder
That I stand alone with no heart for a partner.
I am young Icarus, whose wings my rays melted
Who fell for his pride, disillusioned and misdirected
I am his father Daedalus, the now flightless inventor
Brilliant at first glance, but now, nothing more.
