I Love You Mom
I smile as I remember the holidays past
The table full
The smells are wonderful
You are in total control
Like a little general you command your kitchen
And all who dare to enter
I love you mom
I smile now for another Thanksgiving
The table full
The smells are wonderful
But the general fights to hold on to some control
I love you mom
The eyes question
You make yourself busy
You need to feel needed
I love you mom
You question many times what you are supposed to cook
And I smile when I get there and you cooked the same as I
You tire quickly but tough as they come you work diligently
Until all is done
I love you mom
We’re a little too fast
A little too loud
Your conversations have fallen quiet
But having all of us around you
I can read in your face is what puts you at ease
It gives much peace
I love you mom
Did you have a good Thanksgiving
Others will ask
It was spent with my mom
So I was blessed
I love you mom
God make me the daughter
That my mom now needs
The daughter becomes the parent
And now takes the lead
I love you mom
You ask the same question
Over and over and frustrated
You figure it out and get upset
I touch your cheek
And say the same thing I always say
That always sounds brand new to you
Mom you can forget everything else
But just remember
I’m your favorite
The smile in your eyes,
The smile on your face
The laughter it brings
It works every time
I love you mom
