I Remember
I remember my childhood days.
Reading my scriptures, praying at night.
Walking strongly in Father's way.
Living His teachings with all my might.
I remember feeling carefree.
Eyes unopened curiously.
You picked wild flowers meant for me.
I talked about him loyally.
I remember struggles and tears.
Trust was trampled faith estranged.
Dangers brewed before naive fears.
When changes came life rearranged.
I remember those many years
When life was young and dreams appeared.
New love embraced me with its charms.
And every goal my hope endeared.
I remember studying hard.
Part-time jobs barely made ends meet.
Professing love, soon my soul chard.
And sunk into a great defeat.
I remember the crying days.
Hoping my life would go away.
Time, then, spinning unwelcome ways.
Watching my dreams in disarray.
I remember groping and stings.
Screaming to God, “Why so much pain?”
“I love you, my child.” His word rings.
Bad choices bring sin's stormy rain.
I remember turning around.
Then, stopped to take a look at me.
And deep within myself I found
Following God's love set me free.
