I Saw God, Now What
At first, God would but listen to me
As I beseeched him to tell me why
many of his creatures were hungry
underneath his heavenly, blue sky
Why did words of hate and anger spill
from lips that, instead, should only sing
Because, my child, you must climb each hill
and each of you then the answers bring
For mountains, meadows and tiny creeks
we are the guardians of the wild.
In caring for them, we must also care
for each other and the homeless child
At last, I hoped, I would see God's face
But then I noticed his rose-hued skies
and in lilac clouds, I saw God's grace
and love extended in a sunrise.
