If I Ruled the World
If I ruled the world
I'd defer to the Lord
For He'd be adored
while I'd be ignored
Yet before I handed the reins
to the new King
I'd ask Him to consider
a couple of things
You know that good old 'Golden Rule'
That's one I'd keep if I were You
Here's a reminder: 'Do unto others
as you would have them do unto you'
And then there's that uniquely American one
The rule that puts the 'free into freedom' --
'Cos your freedom ends at the line where mine starts
And vice versa for those-who-covet upstarts
The final rule will go a long way
to ensure that Light and Joy will carry the day:
Always Love Your Neighbor as Yourself
Good luck now, my King ~ For your Kingdom I'll pray
