In the Meadow

And I closed my eyes.

In that meadow by the cliff, where a single tree stood, there just a little far away from the cliff, whose roots tightly grip the ground, a boy of about 14 stood. Facing the cloudless sky, eyes mesmerized by its beauty. Not even noticing that i have always, always been looking, watching him here from behind this tree. He took a step forward, and another, one foot after the other, now nearer to the edge with every step.

The sky has turned its curtains to a beautiful autumn color, showering this mellow meadow a pretty golden color, his pale face catching some of the lights of this shower. His beautiful deep ocean-blue eyes, which are even more romantic than this meadow scenario, are now shut, hiding their beauty.
Still making his way towards the tip of the cliff, I gathered up every ounce of my courage, got out of my safe haven, and followed him. Advancing quietly, like a shadow is brought to life by that lovely sunshine. Walking, quietly walking, and closing in the gap that has forever separated us.

The edge. There he stopped. As if he knew that the piece of gravel below him is only enough to support him. As if he noticing and rejecting the voices from the valley below, calling, enticing him to jump and fall into its dark and deep abyss. But there, at the tip, he stopped, and I behind him, heart and mind racing against each other.
And there behind him, I try to absorb everything there was to absorb: His brown hair, his broad shoulder, tall body, unblemished white skin, his sweet aroma drifting with the gentle breeze, the rhythm of his breathing, and the fact that I was just this small, unnoticeable creature behind him. I was always, always been watching him from behind, only having to get a glimpse of his beautiful, yet sad face once.

His face. That round face, pointed noise, flawless white skin, and that red lips which might not have laughed nor smiled once. That was the face I saw once when he came to rest at the big tree’s shade, in which, even I, tried to seek its cloak that erase every evidence that I was ever there, that I was even wandering this lonely earth, that there was another being besides him, indulging in the luxury the lovely meadow has to offer.

There at the tip of the cliff, eyes closed, arms wide open, welcoming the gentle breeze, facing the dark valley below, he just stood there.

And I open my eyes to the light of reality. The dream forever remembered.
