In This Last Moment
In the last moment, your eyes did plead,
for you wished your life, I would not concead,
the knife in my hand, I plunged so deep,
I gave you peace, an eternal sleep.
The stranger lay dead, by your side, in our bed,
an axe had cleaved his once beautiful head,
now, nothing but gore did cover his face,
to take another's wife was such a disgrace.
I kneel by our bed waiting for men to come,
to take me in chains, my heart is numb,
I shall face my end for this murderous crime,
dragged through the streets, dragged through the slime.
I did adore you, my love it was true,
any small thing, for you, I would do,
never did I expect what I saw,
I struck like the eagle with a murderous claw.
At this last moment, I saw only red,
my vengeful heart did want you both dead,
if I had thought, how different things could well be,
my beloved, you might still be with me.
I cover you now, on the steps I hear feet,
the sum of our lives shall now be complete,
the rope waits for me, my future, there is none,
in losing you, my life, it is done.
I cover your glory, you are my divine,
my heart is now dead, it does no longer shine,
oh, friends, take me with you, I do know my end,
a dance with the devil, is that not the trend?
Of the horror to come, I have no fear,
I have killed the one that I loved so dear,
her lover, the peacock, lies by her side,
from life's last moment I shall not try to hide.
So let me drop, come to a sudden end,
no one shall weep, I shall have no friend,
then into a box, buried, no marker to tell,
where my body went before I went to Hell.
In the last moment, your eyes did plead,
for you wished your life, I would not concead,
the knife in my hand, I plunged so deep,
I gave you peace, an eternal sleep.
