Love Poem: Just To Be Near You

Just To Be Near You

I made my home in your homeland
to watch your daisies as they sway,
to feel their petals in my hand,
as I pick some for you everyday
to rest in sunlight where you lay.
This old, stone house was once a church.
Between the graves and lines of birch
trees in the yard, I weave my time,
and from the towers highest perch,
you sing though bells no longer chime.

And with you near, I find my breath.
The air flows as the rivers flow.
I hold no fear of life nor death.
My heart grows as the daisies grow
where souls dance in the sweet meadow.
Beyond the hills, I’m not alone.
I rest my hands upon the stone
and touch your name so finely etched
to feel the grooves lovingly known
below the birch with limbs outstretched.
