Knowing Love When You Find It
Knowing Love When You Find It!
Is love a nectar, random taste for candy bars,
Or gem so rarely found you’d dare a trip to Mars?
Do sweetness, rareness, beauty own their light or wane?
Might wiser pilgrim’s paths reward with subtler gain?
To young, some fun that’s shared suggests one way to go.
But dining out and fancy cars are more like snow
That melts, sublimes with time, could fade without a trace,
Still moisture sparks new growth – a rose could take its place!
Experience grows souls and often strikes sweet chords!
Self-patience and all kindness - fertilize rewards!
Love’s more revealed, lobotomized, by owning things?
‘Love’ gravitates to rich? That’s rich! If she wears rings,
But man’s nose pierced, is ‘love’ more staple bought and sold
Both settle for (and call it ‘Love’)? That seems less gold,
More brass to me. ‘Security’ sires’ Poverty?”
Who’s Slave, who’s Boss? I doubt that Solomon could see!
Do friendships’ disappointments prove no friend exists?
Goal’s loss (can LOVE be ‘failure?’) means no one gets kissed?
All ‘effort’ is sufficient! Each dream owns its weight!
Our SIN’s God’s failure, or ‘THE PATH’ to Heaven’s Gate?
Is love defined by what I’ve said so far, you think?
Is love more venal truth than poetry gives ink?
We’re slaves, enslave! Who thwarts temptation without end?
Who bends his knee to Christ, gives life to save a friend?
Might ‘humble one,’ a sinner, know more peace, in fact,
Than ‘loving one’ who dreams return with every act?
Your ‘gift’ (to let Him in) is how you know you’re loved
God’s servant to potential! ‘Soul’ is never gloved!
