LAST BREATH

I didn't know you were going to take your last breath
I knew you had bad health
But I always knew you had the strength
Your leaving us had a big effect
It all started with a phone call
That day all I could think of was that my fault
I remember rushing home
At this time I just knew I didn't want to be alone
Upstairs I saw you lying in your bed
My heart was beating fast, and I was scared
I remember holding your hand and it was cold
At that time my heart felt like it was going to explode
Your eyes were close
But I still had some hope
I just sat there and kept on crying
My heart and brain just kept denying
It's been about fourteen years since you have been gone
I remember that first day I held you when you were born
Today I look at fourteen years of memories on Facebook
And then I finally realized and understood
What family and friends are all about
