Lonely Train Rides
There’s something about these train rides
Watching life pass me by
Once again, leaving everything I need behind
The speaker overhead rattles
“Next stop Seattle, heading west”
Holding back tears, I’m doing my best
But a few always seem to get away
I look out the window to see what life has in store today
First glance is a burnt down barn
And a tree full of color
To my left I see a little boy leaning on his mother
That barn was once so alive and that tree was so green
And now I have my lover for the times I need to lean
An old couple holding hands
Might be the best sight I’ve seen
I sometimes forget how to look at the beauty in things
But these lonely train rides help me remember
It may be a sad day today, but life won’t stop happening
