Love Poem: Lost

Lost

I reach for the things I cannot have
I love, but it's never returned
Trust is something I give away
Knowing it has to be earned

I mourn for those who need mourning
But for me no tear is shed
No one will offer their shoulder
I cry in silence instead

I weep for the widows and beggers
Just like the good book commands
I've nothing to offer in treasure
I help with my own two hands

I have no place to lay my head
A bench becomes my bed
Each morning I wake up hungry
Knowing that I won't be fed

I'm someone's son or daughter
Somewhere our paths have crossed
I'm the one who fell through the cracks
I'm what the world has lost
