Lotus
LOTUS
Asian lotus flower with water-black
Flowing hair and wide innocence,
In your mermaid soul I find a mystery.
There is hurt in your eyes
But invitation in your mouth.
Are you drained by repeated loss
In your search for ultimate happiness,
Final harbor, emotional restfulness ?
Your beauty belies a sadness;
Your floral face hides nothing;
Wide the windows of your soul are open
For all to see that your petals
Have been roughly ruffled in your
Hurried quest to have answers to
Questions buried deep in the water
Flowing around your hair.
Waves roll over the years of drifting,
Washing the balm of salty kisses
Into those drawing lips, those tidal
Embraces, those whorls of curls,
Yet the spirals of the shell wherein
You hide cannot keep you safe
From another maelstrom of love.
