Love
John said to Mary, "I love you".
Fred said to Mary, "I love you".
Greg said to Mary, "I love you".
Mark said to Mary, "I love you".
John, Fred, Greg, and Mark loved Mary.
All four of them proposed to Mary.
But Mary said yes to no one but Greg.
Why did Mary accept Greg's proposal?
Greg's love for Mary was deeper and more defining.
John, Fred, and Mark loved Mary in an English kind
of way. They could only love in the capacity that they
knew, felt, and understood. That was not enough for Mary.
On the other hand, Greg loved Mary in a Greek kind of way.
Let me explain. The English language has but one word for love.
The Greek language has three words for love of which I am aware.
They are Eros (Romantic), Phileo (Brotherly), and Agape (Godly).
The love from John, Fred, and Mark was genuine
but lacked Agape.
Greg's love was bathed in all three types of love,
and Mary said, "Yes!"
