Love and Friendship
Love is like the lavender;
but friendship is like the oak tree.
The oak is huge when the lavender blooms, But which will bloom most constantly?
The lavender is lovely in spring, Its summer blossoms scent the air; Yet wait till winter comes again, And who will call the lavenders fare.
Then, spurn the silly lavender now, And deck it with the oak's sheen,
That, when beauty blights the brow, she still may leave the garland green.
The lavender is beautiful, but the oak is huge and free,
let's meet again holding each other's hand, sharing stories under the tree.
