Love At My First Confession
Love at my first confession,
My heart's in Your possession;
It is not cold, and it has light
That is set deeply, shining bright.
One day, when trees were in full bloom,
I told you frankly in my room
What sins were hidden in my soul...
So, I confessed, upon the whole.
That time I was too young and blind...
But now I have you on my mind.
I've understood my spirit's gist:
I fell in Love with you, my priest.
I had some teenage love before
But it was amour, nothing more.
I doubted but now it's clear:
My feelings are great Love that's real...
My heart is Love's Empire!
It has a lot of fire!
Is it from hell? Of course, it's not.
Though it can be sometimes too hot,
People, don't think it's passion
'Cause I have no temptation!
I've got a present come from God,
I swear all my flesh and blood!
It seems that Love is always sweet
But you don't know what you can meet:
Love's pain sometimes can be so strong
That you might think: "There's something wrong!"
But medicine may be bitter, too,
And doctors can make pain for you.
But you keep patient, anyway.
So Love cures souls, I dare say.
Don't try to lead It to an end;
Believe that you will understand
That real Love's a way to grace!
It'll show grief on the Devil's face!
Love at my first confession,
You're made for my salvation!
Genuine feelings conquer all,
That's why no fiends will touch my soul!
Lord Jesus! I will not forget:
My duty is to tolerate
All sacrifices I can meet...
I'm not afraid of frost and heat,
I'm not afraid of snow and rain,
I'm ready to put up with pain
Because I think of You each day!
My dear Lord! I hope You'll say:
"Take my congratulations!
Your heart is full of patience!
Of course, I'll keep you far from hell
'Cause you still love your priest so well".
