Love On the Cross
I
See
The cross.
Does it hurt?
What brought you up there?
A sweet and effervescent scent?
Life’s reverie with a beloved full of roses?
Or you were urged with that passion to be the knight of a damsel in severe
distress?
I
See
Jesus.
God's fierce love.
Like a dove fighting,
Beak and wings, to the cross' extent.
You were not fired with rapture of fleeting emotions,
Nor swayed by tempting gains and earthy fame, but of pure sweet love like
honey from the comb!
I
See
True love.
The greatest!
It is redemptive;
Merciful like a mother's love,
That flows into the soul and makes all things good and sweet;
That gazes at the lowly as lovely, and knows that the poor one as worthy of
love.
You
Have
Loved Me!
Do I, too!
I may mouth of love,
I may muse on it every day,
If I will not give my life to the unlovable –
It is not love!! But then, the cross brings hope that love will tame the lion in
my heart.
