Love Runs Through It
Love Runs Through It
By Rick Rucker
Through the course of Humankind,
There seems to be one thought foremost on our mind,
That thought is to find True Love,
The thing that we value far above,
Whatever is in second place,
That quickened pulse when I see her face,
It causes us to do silly things,
‘Twixt first meeting, and the wedding rings,
Some things we might like to forget,
We’ve all done some of those, I’ll bet,
We are programmed to find The One to Love,
By some Force, from Above?
Most things we do in Life,
To find the perfect husband, or wife,
The biggest house, the coolest car,
To prove that we are the best mate, by far!
All of these because we yearn,
To feel Love’s all-consuming Burn,
I did not know how intense this feeling could be,
Until the point was brought home to me,
I am a fairly steady fellow,
Try to be resolutely mellow,
Recently, I went on a first date,
Swallowing hard, deciding to trust to Fate,
We set our first date at a neutral place,
I walked in, then saw Her face,
I knew that I was Lost,
Had to have Her, at any cost!
A feeling like I’d never felt before,
Not sure my feet were in the floor!
I was swept along by Love’s Irresistible Tide,
Thankful for the glorious ride,
The way I always wish to feel,
A Love too intense to conceal,
Willing to do whatever it takes,
When we part, my Heart breaks,
But, like a Phoenix, I rise again,
At the moment we get together again,
A Love that is so intense,
That I lose all sense,
I don’t know how long I can do it,
But I’m going to take the Ride, as long as Love Runs through it!
