Lover's Winter Walk
Beauty of the newly befallen snow
aching in the heart of gladness.
Non-symetrical flakes cast in a row
now belying winter's madness.
Lovers walking in the moonlit park
clasping hands in woolen gloves.
Frosty breaths go mingling in the dark
on the wings of turtledoves.
In the distance a train whistle blows;
such a high lonesome sound.
Wailing and wafting through the snows
sparkling on the frozen ground.
Winter's grasp cannot deter two hearts
lost inside the flame of love.
Never noticing their numbing parts
they have hopes they're dreaming of.
So off they go into the glacial night
scooting through the icy drifts.
Wrapped around each other they hold tight
sharing in each other's gifts.
Winter rages on but they're immune
to the cold and whistling gales.
Love and passion underneath the moon
as it wanes and slowly pales.
