Love's Sea
You came gently, quiet sea,
requiring nothing.
My tormented soul
rode the crest of your love
and was cradled calmly
by softly breaking waves and I knew...
I will be forever
at your feet in gratitude,
and be as the shore
of this great love,
the shore that ever stretches
beneath the skipping sea,
beneath the angry sea,
beneath the passionate sea,
accepting all into her aspiring lap.
The deep caverns of my soul
make way for you,
intimate sea;
and the mountains
rise up in yearning pinnacles
to kiss the weight of you,
vast sea.
Oh, ceaseless sea, roll over me...
