Making the First Move
Together they strolled in ambling late night
When it was quite dark and lonely outside
And coyly he caught a glimpse of her sight
Where her usual bright smile silently cried
Loudly they argued, returning from walk
Waking their daughter who heard the brawl
And they went to bed, not finishing their talk
Erecting a wall that made them feel small
Morning took him to their daughter's school
When he hugged her and kissed a goodbye
Thinking about last night when he was a fool
As he saw her subdued by a troubled sigh
Skipping work then he headed back to house
Making the first move, saying sorry he was
And she hugged him back like a gifted spouse
Enfolding him in embrace of an indulgent pause
