Marriage Bed
Marriage Bed
After so many years together
You and I may have a routine
The passions of youth were consuming
Like a flash fire flares so quickly
Now, you begin making love in the morning,
When you wake early to turn my coffee on
You continue your moves as you fill my gas tank,
noticing it was nearly gone
A woman may take longer to be ready
to give and to receive... but wait
You know all the right strings to pluck ,
and like music my body you play
You came up behind me, kissed my neck,
while I washed up after dinner tonight
Goose bumps on my arms all rise
Like a flock of birds all taking flight
Foreplay is finished when the house
is silent and still and dark
Still you love me into the wee hours
I fall asleep to the sounds of sky larks.
