Memoirs of You
When the moonlight invades the room
You float across my mind
Like something magically wonderful
Its in this sweet memory
My spirit awakens
And ripples like a river. These memories
That floods and gushes
Down my mind like a waterfall
Screams out to you
Through the darkness
The mantle of the crescent night
That breathes so softly
Like your words 'pon my ears like waves
And as I tread into this room
The picture hangs on the blank
Face of the starlit wall
Drawing back our first velvet kiss
On the pages of my memory
When the world stood motionless
And the sun retired and still
The still sea of the moon hung low
On those remember'd eyes
Pale and brown
- That thoughts recall -
Our shadows looming on the wall
Like leaping waters in soft play
And laughter claimed the room
Your nourished smile pulsed my heart
With joy's first glimmer
At the realm of our loud souls that cried
With passion sweet, breathlessly;
Into the sun kissed day of tomorrow
I remember you so well even as
I bear these last memories of you
In the room filled with cleaving silence
