Memories of You and Me
I am sending this picture of you,
the last one I could find
that you won't recognize.
So, I have dressed it up with hugs and kisses.
On your forehead the mark is my heart,
down below on your lips
I engraved my own,
and the hugs rest silently on your shoulders.
Any of my recent photos you have,
you can keep forever.
In them I am a changed person,
the one you now know.
But older pictures you must not keep.
For they are love as love can be,
memories of you and me,
residing where we used to be,
but those images regretfully--
no longer are you and me.
