Midnight Ecstasy
I run my hand over the soft mound of curly hair,
And watch his chest slowly rise and fall with each sleeping breath,
My ears barely hear through the night silence,
The light thump…thump…thumping of his heart,
Hypnotizing me with every pulse…
I love it when I can’t sleep at night,
And lay there with my arms wrapped around him,
Watching the way his eyes move as they dream,
Memorizing every little detail of his face,
Is he thinking of me as he sleeps?
Does he dream of a world where we can love freely?
The night embraces us, you know, we can hide together in its shadows,
But call me selfish, I want more than the darkness,
I want to hold him all through night and make love to him all through the day,
It’s not fair the world condemns us and forces us to live like gargoyles,
They call our love immoral, that it goes against God’s will,
But how can something that feels so right be so wrong?
My gods never look down on me,
They only want me to be myself,
To live my life honestly,
To find and hold on to a love I can devote my life too,
He is that love,
He is my life.
His body begins to shift and I quickly close my eyes,
Pretending to be asleep,
His gentle fingers slowly caress my check,
“You are so beautiful,” he whispers,
And as his arms pull me close to him,
I smile…
