Mildred's Last Dance
she’s looking behind her; she’s looking ahead
shes running around with crazy thoughts in her head
her violets are green; her roses are dead
she’s running from voices and the things that they said
they say hello; she screams goodbye
she’s screaming at children and she doesn’t know why
she hears them laughing so she starts to cry
she scares them away with that fiery look in her eye
she’s packing her bags for places she’ll never go
she’s seeing faces that she’ll never know
tonight her perfume annoys the living room air
Mildred turns on some music and lets down her hair
she starts dancing with a man who isn’t even there
she starts screaming about her life and how it isn’t fair
tonight is the night she’ll end this torrid affair
with the handsome man who isn’t even there
she lights a candle disguised as desire
he steals the candle from her and sets her on fire
Mildred chases him around in circles and calls him a liar
and she calls out his name as the flames grow higher and higher
