somewhere on earth
ordinary in 2019
as my grandson shrugs
i marvel as i wait
in 1969
at the age of eight
for Armstrong’s footfall
on Tranquility Base
before that time
since creation
the man in the moon
just smiled
and the cow laughed
and the moon was rumored
to be made of cheese
mankind took a bite out if it
and now only glass
stands between me and the moon
if i could only touch it
nowadays we love
our grands
to the moon and back
and we target Mars
