Mistaken Roses
I lie awake
in the bed of roses
that we once had made
Allowing the heat
once made for us
chill across my lips
and rejoin against my serenade
Against my wishes
I made us tear apart
and enter a different realm
of neglect and shrouded joy
shriveled roses where you once laid
I keep myself awake
late at night
dreaming of our roses
that we once danced upon
Thinking of every mistake
I stumble on my own blade
let it slice this heart
Take this tainted blood
and make it an acidic lake
I no longer need this thing
this plague called love
That tears my rose apart
leaving only dried petals
For my sacrifice
I lie awake
in my one and only mistake
in the roses we were once able to make
