Mon Ami
So long, I dreamed of you
From age one, maybe two
All my life, in total anticipation
I could never part with this fascination
The books, the paintings
The lessons, the cravings
Deep in the human psyche
Your kind has been our chi
In battles all thorough history
Your ancestors lead us
Into victory
The moment I saw
That two year old filly
I knew she was for me
The world stopped
Standing in time
Burning adoration my crime
Bucephalus, Man O' War
The very greatest
Let me implore
None can hold a candle
To you under saddle
Miles and miles
we have rode
As far as the stars
I am told
That Mon Ami
The little bay mare
Answered my prayer
You enchant the sea and sky
For you, my precious,
The Gods I would defy.
