Love Poem: Mother

Mother

Mother

Often when mother enters my mind
She would halt my flow of thoughts
Then love reigns sublime.

From across continent, we speak
Her voice once vibrant
Is now mellow as in half slumber
The color gray has covered all strands
Of her hair; gray her eyebrows
Her feeble hands and feet
Have toiled near furnace heat
Now they tremble, not in fear
But from a tender heart-
Two weary eyes have seen
History's fiercest touch to her roots
Yet like evergreen, she thrives
The God she serves
Who gives her breath, then set her up
To eighty and four years
Has been her rock
Even as her laughter subsides to smiles.

Often when mother enters my mind
She would halt my flow of thoughts
Then center me with love sublime.
