Mountain Return
I escape into rugged altitude,
above the developed fence lines,
a winding trail my compass.
Sleeping on rich earth.
Listening to the songs of the pines,
as alpine gales carry fresh growth.
Alone, with the sun on my naked shoulders,
I bathe in virgin streams.
I refresh my appetite with sweet berries.
Native brook trout crackle over my campfire.
Plans of complete withdrawal creep into my thoughts,
while I sit, lost in the glow of the embers.
Return to the modern life does not move me.
But, I have visions of you standing in the valley, beckoning.
Your curves in soft light entice.
The lustrous aroma of your hair I covet.
I am drawn to your flirtatious eyes.
My weakness is your inviting smile.
When I do break this isolation,
affection will rain down on your neglected body.
My hands will search out your every surface.
I will hold you through the rapturous night,
indulging our passionate desires.
And you will know why I returned!
