Music of the Heart
The sweet melody of a piano plays in the background of a gentle rain
As eyes of love long for her beauty and leave butterflies of pain
The innocence of a heart lays so soft under feelings so shy
A wish for simplicity is answered by a question of hope, why not try?
Insecurity learned from painful experience stick sharp in the side
It's easier to dance alone and push these nagging feelings aside
But love is stronger than any mountain, for that matter, any man
So the Pied Piper of the heart leads the mice of the mind to plan
Words spoken like the bittersweet tune of a lonely violin
Perfume the air around her in hopes her ears will let them in
And the need grows stronger, and all the mountains disappear
As souls harmonize and the fragrance of love seems in the air
But still there is something missing, one final note to be played
As hearts seem so close, and yet the yarn of love is still frayed
A lasting kiss to tighten the bond, becomes a final kiss goodbye
Feelings so harsh, insecurity at best, all is lost, shouldn't have tried
Great pains taken, mountains surmounted, love seems so easily taken
But still it drifts just out of reach, a little too far, divinely forsaken
So the mice come back, and the Pied Piper's flute lay broken
And the piano plays on, and the rain grows cold, and the violin is forgotten
The mists of an early morning fog swirl in eerie remembrance
Of those in love, who held their secret with fleeting temperance
Until they spoke of their heart's decision did Cupid's arrow go awry
And every drop of morning dew lays in sorrow as tears, broken hearts have cried
