My Elusive Muse
I loved her so deeply, I created a muse
I'd choose, to ignore that she’s just an illusion
She was forever elusive, so hard to hold
And she foretold our inevitable end
But as time went on, I was freed to see
Her beautiful imperfections staring back at me
Yet it did not stop me loving the spectre.
I'll never forget, the way she smiled
Unapologetic, brave, truly wild
I loved her then, and I love her now
For she was the most beautiful thing I'd found
As I sit here drowning in regret,
Cursing the day that we met
