My Everything
"You are my everything," I told you
When we were in the crush of love.
I believed those words to be true,
Inspired perhaps by sources above.
Through the years of married life
I repeated that passionate claim.
In days of joy and days of strife
My declaration remained the same.
"But," you ask, "is the vow still intact
Now that time has had its way?"
"Yes—more than ever it's a fact.
She is my everything still today."
What would I do if left all alone
With my love having passed on?
I know I spoke a truth full-grown
When I said what I did at love's dawn.
She would be my everything still,
Her love alive in my heart and mind.
With unwavering faith in God's will,
Togetherness again we would find.
