My Father In Heaven
My Father in Heaven,
I have so much to say.
I'll start out by wishing You
A most happy Father's Day.
To know you as my dad
Who's unconditionally loved me,
Now that was an image
That took quite some time to see.
However, now I can view You
As my Father, truly,
And how I see a lot in life
Has been altered absolutely.
I wanted to pretend that
A father's love I did not need,
But without Your love, Oh Abba,
My life would be dead indeed.
Growing up, spending time with dad
Was something I didn't like to do,
But I want You to know
That I love spending time with You.
You're my Dad, of that I'm proud.
Oh Father, I'll say this too,
That I'm not one bit embarrassed
Of introducing my friends all to You.
You're a Father who not only
Loves me is spite of every mistake,
But the very one who created me,
Knowing every move I'd make.
You're a Father who'll correct me
Every time that it's required,
And surprisingly I can say, "Thanks"
For out of love it has transpired.
With the billions of children You have,
A special blessing that I'll share
Is that You know all about me,
Down to the very number of my hair.
Oh, my Father in Heaven,
I love You so very deeply
That the words of this poem
Don't approach saying it completely.
Just one more thing I have,
For the time being anyways.
Not just today does this poem apply,
But for every moment, for always!
