My Favorite Christmas
My Favorite Christmas
by Rick Rucker
My favorite Christmas will be this one,
For all the little things we've done.
Our dinner party, too much food,
Lively talk, lovely mood.
I was nervous, I won't lie,
Tried to be a totally charming guy.
When that failed, to be myself, at last,
Did she like me? That die is cast.
I guess I'll get the review tomorrow,
Will it bring a cheer, or sorrow?
I needed to get her okay,
To, her mother, one day say
That I would proudly share my life ,
With her mother as my wife.
This is like election night,
"Til I hear, won't sleep, or eat a bite.
This could change everything,
Will I cry, or will I sing?
One thing I want you to know,
From tonight, I had a happy glow.
As I went home, through The Flood,
Falling trees, wrecks, and mud,
Loads of pools, full of slime,
At your home, I had my best time!
