My First Love
My First Love
Soon now, I am going to see him
that one that I have loved so dear,
my heart's beating a little faster now
as the appointed time is drawing so near.
"My goodness", my heart pants
this line is so very long and I can hardly wait,
but when our eyes meet
no need for any words to be spoken for me to feel once again so complete.
You see, he was my first love, so this arranged meeting
between the two of us is oh so special,
and even though years have passed since I have seen his face
I have stayed faithful and true because of loving grace.
Poignantly, I remember his arms around me
the strength and tenderness and so loving they were,
his embrace, his breath on my face as he leaned down to kiss me
my heart leaps within as I draw nearer.
Oh, I gasped, I caught a glimpse of him and I know that
he to was stirred to see my face,
my heart is beating a little quicker
as I am getting closer to finishing my race.
You see, this first love is also
the Creator of soul,
and one day soon
I will be with Him and finally at home.
