My Fondest Memory
I suppose the fondest memory I have had
Might come from early childhood long ago
A time when I was very sick and felt so bad
I saw my mother’s salty tears so softly flow
Holding me tightly, and her letting me know
She would always be there to comfort me
I spent the night cradled in her loving arms
But, alas, her promise was not meant to be
A dreadful disease caused us many alarms
In time, it took from me my mother’s arms.
