My Lovely Muse
My Lovely Muse
By Rick Rucker
My Heart skips at her Kiss,
A feeling I would, not willingly, miss,
To even hear her, on the phone,
I, no longer, am alone,
When we can meet,
I marvel that there is one so sweet,
She is practical, not like me,
And, yet, she has a Spirit, free,
If I propose something out in Left Field,
To my suggestion, she will often yield,
She might look at me askance,
But, she will give me a chance,
To make my case for a change,
To, our calendar, rearrange,
And to try an action so very new,
That neither of us knows how to do,
She says she wants to live forever,
Constant adventure, ending never,
I doubt that will come to pass,
But I will take every moment that I can, with this Lass,
My World, she does rock,
She has turned back my body’s clock,
In years, I am sixty five,
And I have never felt so alive!
You might be thinking that she is half my age,
A difference that seems all the rage,
But, she is, in years, my equal,
And, I sense, I shall not need a sequel,
I do not know what I did so well,
That Heaven should send me this belle,
As long as permitted, I shall use,
This extraordinary beauty, My Lovely Muse.
