New Life
with every breath the jagged edges fit neatly into the same wounds
I try to stop it but the silky pain melts down my center
As the steel drags across my tongue it forms a wake of metallic spurs dancing in my mouth
my lips form his name and I have a moment's reprieve
heat forms like a fireball exploding through my mind
I beg for a quick kiss to quell my misery
My thoughts run as fast as the air from my lungs
I search for that quiet, warm, careful womb
Instead, I am pushed back to the harshness of birth
fighting for survival in this world that overloads my senses
